Episode Nine: The Results Are In
I sat nervously in Dr. Smith's office awaiting the results. My stomach was going haywire, I didn't bother eating any breakfast that morning. Shaking my left leg nervously, I heard the door open. This is it. Either my child is a Carter.... or a Littrell.
"Hello Elizabeth," she smiled in that annoying doctor smile.
"Hey... Agatha," I shot back. She rolled her eyes and took a seat behind her desk. Flipping over the file, I watched her brown eyes skim down the page.
"So, how's it going?" she asked looking up.
"Fine, I guess," I sighed looking down at my fidgeting fingers. My palms were very sweaty and the room felt like it was a million degrees.
"That's nice, so I had my nurses look up Nick Carter's file and from what his file says and what your baby shows it's a match, what's interesting is your blood type and Nick's mixed and it's in the baby," she smiled.
Happy, I got off my chair and started jumping for joy and screaming 'YES!!!!!!' Realizing that I was still in Agatha's office I stopped and looked at her smiling face. My cheeks turned beet red.
"I'm glad to see you happy but remember you have to take it easy," she said patting my shoulder and leaving.
Making my way out of Kaiser I hopped into my car smiling foolishy. Driving back to *my* house I pulled into my driveway. It seemed like ages since i've been to my house. Hopping over the kitchen I pulled out a package of french fries and threw them into the pan and stared as the oil settled into the fries.
Staring down at my tummy I smiled. Me having Nick Carter's baby but then again what if he doesn't want to raise the baby with me. Suddenly the smile disappeared. Then there was this thing where I had to tell my parents about my pregnancy. They really didn't want their only daughter pregnant at twenty and didn't finish college yet.
As the french fries turned a golden brown I took them out of the pan and place them into a plate. Sitting at the table, I put some ketchup on it and began eating. Once I was done eating I went over to check my mailbox filled with two months worth of mail.
Bill. Bill. Another bill. Ugly computer magazine. Note from some exterminator. Bill. Postcard from parents... Uh Oh. Throwing the other pieces of mail down, I flipped it over and began reading it.
Liz,

Mom and Dad
Kill me now.
Sighing, I hopped back into my car and drove to Nick's house. I didn't really know what I was going to do but I felt if I go and look at him something might spark into my brain.
Entering his house I heard splashing water coming from the backyard. Through the glass door I saw him in the pool with an unfamilar face splashing water at each other.
Slipping off my shoes and socks, I walked over to the pool. None of the people in the backyard noticed me, they were too engrossed with what they were doing. I looked at all the people obviously they were all younger than Nick.
"Hey Liz! Didn't see you were here," Nick yelled from the pool in the most happiest voice,"These are my sibs, i'm watching them for today." He said pointing at each of them and introducing them to me one by one.
Sitting at the edge of the pool dipping my feet into the cool water I watched as he played with his little brother and sister. It gave me a sparkle of hope that he likes kids.
I watched as he got out of the pool and started to walk towards my direction. He sat to my right. I stared at him for a moment, he looked so cute with his hair wet and little droplets of water covering his bare body.
Out of complusion, I grabbed his head and pulled him in for a kiss. The great feeling of his lips touching mine took over me and I fell limp in his arms.
"Now, now, Liz, not in front of the kids," he said breaking the kiss.
I stared at the faces,"Hey what are you all looking at?" They resumed their activites as I rested my head against his wet shoulder.
"Where have you been all afternoon?" he asked.
"Out,"
"Doing what?"
"Hey when you go out do I ask you what you do?"
"No, but-,"
"So there," I said kissing his cheek. He sighed and looked straight ahead.
"Liz, is there anything bothering you cause I don't know... you seem different,"
"I'm still the same Liz you know,"
Nick looked at me for a moment and I saw that he was about to say something but I watched as two middle aged people came into the backyard and Nick's siblings running towards them.
"Early," Nick said.
"Yeah, turns out the meeting wasn't that important," the female who shared a strikingly resemblance to Nick said.
"Mom, dad, this is Liz," Nick said in a polite tone. I put on my innocent smile as I shook their hands.
"Nice meeting you Liz and Nick we have to take a raincheck on dinner tonight," Mrs. Carter said.
"That's okay,"
The tension was so thick. Everyone remained silent.
"Well, we wouldn't want to be intruding on you two, we'll see you soon Nick,"
I watched as the Carter's made their way inside and out the door hopping into the family car. That was the weirdest thing i've ever experienced in my life.
Walking upstairs I dropped onto his bed staring at the ceiling. The day went by so fast. Nick walked in and laid down next to me. Placing my head onto his chest, I closed my eyes as his arms wrapped around me. I could hear his heart beating steadily and feel his fingers stroking my hair.
"I love you...," I whispered before falling asleep.
I could have sworn he said,"Me too.."
