Episode Fifteen: Those Blue Eyes
With my parents a couple of cars back I was on my way to return the car i'd rented. Pulling into the parking lot of the rental place I walked over to the counter and returned the keys and signed a couple of papers and I was all set to leave. Turning around I ran into someone.
"Nick?!"
"Liz!" Nick exclaimed taking me into a tight hug suffocating me. He released his grip and planted a kiss on my lips. Now this is how he must have felt when I first kissed him.
"Let go of me you bastard!" I spat out at him.
He winced at my words.
"Why are you here?" I asked rubbing my temples feeling that painful throbbing in my head starting to come back.
"I came to look for you, I'm so sorry," he said grabbing my hands.
Looking outside I saw my parents' car pulling up ready for me. A sweat came over me and I suddenly felt lightheaded and dizzy. Then my world went black...

My eyes slowly fluttered open and I found myself lying down. Staring down at me were those unmistakable blue eyes of Nick's, his hand gently gripping mine.
"Nick, where am I?" I asked weakly.
"You're at the hospital,"
"What? Why am I here? It's too early for me to give birth,"
"No it's not that, you passed out at the rental place at the airport remember?"
"No I don't remember," I said as a sharp pain shot through my neck.
"It's okay Liz, shhh... i'm here for you," he said comfortingly.
A part of me wanted him to go away but I knew I needed him. I love him too much. He's the only reason i'm on this Earth.
"Hello, Elizabeth my name is Dr. Aames good to see you awake," the doctor introduced herself and walked in with a clipboard in hand. I smiled weakly at her.
"Well we ran some tests and you and you're baby should be fine. You know you shouldn't have flown while you're pregnant, it's not healthy. Plus you have to lay off on the stress, you have a lot of action going around your neck and brain. Take it easy and relax," she said to me.
"Will she be going home anytime soon?" Nick asked.
"We need to keep her here until she's 100% well. About three to five days and she'll be good as new," she smiled and then left.
"Where's my mom and dad?"
"They left for just a moment to get some coffee,"
"Do they know about me having a baby?"
Nick nodded.
"What did they say?"
"They didn't say anything, don't worry about it now," he said planting a kiss on my forehead sending a nice tingly sensation in me.
"Nick I wanna go home.... I wanna go home," I whined.
"You will, soon. Don't worry," he said brushing strands of my hair out of my face.
The next few days were a bit weird for me. Family members and friends came to visit me. But by my side always was Nick even though we really didn't talk except look at each other. He treated me like a queen on a thrown but I still had my doubts about him. He did leave me when I told him about our baby....
"Are you all set to leave Elizabeth?" Dr. Aames said walking in.
"I feel fresh and good as new," I smiled.
"Great we need you to sign these papers and Mr. Carter is waiting for you outside," she said handing me some papers and a pen.
Quickly scribbling my signature onto the papers I immediately hopped out of bed and exited my room. I saw Nick and walked over to him. Giving me a hug and a light kiss on the nose he took my hand and escorted me out to the parking lot.
"Funny, you re-rented the same car I rented," I said staring at the baby blue Toyota Camry. He just threw that smirk and unlocked the doors.
"So do you want to go to your parents house or just go out. I mean you lived here and I didn't so I don't know a thing about the fabulous Bay Area," he said starting the car.
"No, please I don't want to go back home yet cause then I'll be flooded with questions and I don't want that right now. We can go to the beach if you'd like," I suggested knowing that he'd want to go see it.
"Anything you want just tell me where to go and the turns to make," he said wrapping his arm around the headrest, looking behind him to check for a cars and he backed up.
The drive to the beach was tense. Both of us only spoke when I told him we needed to make a turn and such things. Taking his hand I walked him over to the set of rocks to insure our privacy.
"So...," we both proceeded to say at the same time.
"You go first Nick," I said.
"No you go first," he insisted.
"No you," I said urging him with my eyes.
"Okay, if I would've known you'd pull something like that I wouldn't have gone and left. Look I knew it seemed like I didn't care but I just needed sometime to think and I guess I deserved what I got when I found out you flew back here."
"Well, you did deserve it. That hurt Nick. It really did." I said as angerness began to take over me.
"And I'm sorry for it. I'll do anything to make up for it."
"No, it's not that easy Nick. You made me feel like nothing, like I was so unimportant to you when you were so important to me Nick," I let out as tears threatened my eyes, "I've never had anything like this with a man before. I love you so much."
"And I love you too," he said cupping my head in his hands, "It's just the first obstacle we have to get over at the start of this relationship we have."
Looking into his blue eyes got me again. What is about blue eyes that make them so powerful? I stared at him for a moment before getting on my toes and pressing my lips onto his.
