Episode Fourteen: It's Nick's Turn

Point of View changes in this Episode only to make it easier on me

Kevin searched everywhere he thought, calling everyone he knew to ask for Nick. It made no sense why Nick was doing this. A light bulb lit up in his head and Kevin sped to the beach. From the soft glow of the moon he saw a dark figure sitting on the sand. As Kevin walked closer he saw Nick hugging his knees to his body.

"Nick?"

"Kevin? What the hell are you doing here?"

"Hello to you too," Kevin said taking a seat next to Nick. "She needs you Nick, Liz really needs you big time."

"She should've told me. I don't know. I didn't know this would happen,"

"That's life for you Nick, you have to get back to her before she gets worried. Stress is not good for a mother expecting a child,"

Nick sat there for moment, thinking about how much his life changed since he met Liz. How she brought him new feelings he's never experienced before. How spending a minute without her was hell for him.

"I guess you're right but me, a father?"

"Little bro is growing up faster than I thought," Kevin exclaimed patting Nick on the back.

The two men got up and walked over to their cars.

"I'll meet you at your house Nick," Kevin said.

"No, it's okay. You can go home. I need sometime with Liz alone," Nick stated hopping into his car and driving off.

As he pulled into the driveway he noticed Liz's car wasn't there. Immediately running out of the car he searched everywhere in his house for Liz but she was no where to be found. He noticed that most of her belongings were gone.

Nick started to panic and hopped back into his car and drove to Liz's house which was on the other side of town. Once he got there, he knocked endlessly on the door but there was no answer.

"Liz!" he called out but nothing. "Damn it Liz, where are you?" he asked outloud hopping back into his car driving back home.

Grabbing his cell phone he called Kevin,"Kev?"

"Nick?"

"Did Liz mention anything to you about going anywhere?" Nick asked hoping Kevin knew the answer.

"Now why would she be out at such a late hour? Besides she should be fast asleep in bed cause I remember tucking her in,"

"Well when I got home she wasn't there, her stuff and car are gone,"

"What?!" Kevin exclaimed.

"She's gone Kev and I have no idea where she could be," Nick sighed, "I got to find her before she does something crazy."

Pulling into his driveway, Nick immediately went inside and started dialing every number he could in hopes to find her. He called hotels, motels, close friends, hospitals, and then he called the airport.

"LAX airport this is Christina how may I help you?" she asked politely.

"I need to know if anyone by the name of Elizabeth Centera boarded a plane,"

"I'm sorry sir but we cannot disclose such information,"

Nick sighed," Please, it's an emergency I need to find her as soon as possible because.....," Nick started to babble on and he didn't even know what he was saying, he just started spitting things out of his mouth.

"All right! All right! I'll do a search on her...," Christina sighed and the line went silent for a moment. "Elizabeth Centera- flight 216 to San Francisco California. She left about 4 hours ago."

"Do you think I can get a ticket to San Francisco?" Nick asked.

"Hold on for just a second please.... I'm sorry sir but the closet date available for a flight is next week,"

"Is there anyway I can get one now?"

"I'm sorry sir,"

"Fine then I'll take it," Nick sighed.

"Name please,"

"Nick Carter,"

Following Week

The week went long for Nick. He felt like such a fool for leaving her like that but finding out he was going to be a father was too much for him. He wasn't ready for such a big commitment.

"Good luck on finding Liz," Kevin said as he dropped Nick off at the airport.

"Thanks i'll need it," Nick said grabbing his luggage and waving goodbye to Kevin.

Nick walked to the terminal and he couldn't help but smile when he passed the janitorial room where he and Liz made love. Walking onto the plane, he searched for his seat. Once he was all settled in, he immediately shut his eyes and prayed to God he would have an easy time finding her.

A few hours later the captain announced they would be arriving into SFO. That's when the adrenaline started to kick in for Nick as he hopped off the plane. Here he was in the Bay Area and he had no idea where to find Liz.

Knowing he'd need a set of wheels to find his way around the city he walked over to the rental car desk and suddenly an idea came to him.

"Hi, how may I help you?" the man behind the counter with a nametag, Dan, asked.

"Yes, Dan ummm... see you know women these days they're very forgetful and my girlfriend sometimes just has these memory lapses.. you those times of months can affect her brain... and she forgot when to return the car we rented,"

"No need to explain. I can understand that, I have a gal myself... her name please,"

"Elizabeth Centera,"

The man behind the counter did little typing, "Hmm... it seems the car is set to be returned today. Do you have it? You have until 5 o'clock today,"

"Thanks a lot we'll have it by then," Nick said and he went over to the chairs and sat down. Glancing at his watch it was already 4:30.
