Takes Two To Tango
Chapter 9
It was about noon when Sarah checked out of the hotel. Driving home, she saw something she didn't expect to see. Nick and Ethan seated in front of the television set with sega controllers in their hands.
"Ha! I beat you again daddy," Ethan said in his cute baby voice.
Nick put on a mock angry face, "I'm gonna get you!" Then he started to tickle Ethan causing Ethan to laugh and giggle uncontrollably.
Sarah cleared her throat. Nick stopped and flashed her a smile.
"Mommy! Mommy!" Ethan yelled and ran towards Sarah.
Taking him into her arms, she walked towards Nick. "What are you doing here? Where's Valarie?"
"I wanted to see my boy, and I sent Valarie on a short vacation. She really needed it,"
"Oh,"
"Mommy! Mommy! Gwess what? I beat daddy! hehe," Ethan said brighly smiling.
"It wasn't fair!" Nick insisted.
"Riiiiiight, anyways mommy is hungry," Sarah said walking into the kitchen. Settling Ethan into a chair at the kitchen table, she went to rummage through the fridge then pulled out some delicious fruit salad Valarie had made. Nick soon joined them.
"Hey Ethan, why dontcha play some more sega okay? I need to talk to mommy,"
"Okay!" he squealed running back into the living room.
"Nick-,"
"Don't start we really need to talk,"
"Okay then, what would you like to talk about?"
"Us, we, whatever we have,"
"There is no *us* and there is no *we* Nick," Sarah said harshly.
"Sarah you can't say that, you seriously can't say you don't love me,"
"I don't love you Nick," Sarah said lying right through her teeth.
Nick looked at her. Obviously he wasn't expecting her to say it. Even though his face expressed no expression, inside his heart was breaking. It took a lot in him to prevent him from crying.
"You don't love me?" Nick questioned.
"No,"
"You can't mean that-,"
"Nick just get out," Sarah said getting up and walking towards the front door.
"But-,"
"I don't want you here anymore okay,"
"That's just not possible... Bye Ethan!"
"Bye bye daddy! See ya tomorrow!" Ethan yelled back.
*Ten O'clock in the evening*
Sarah and Ethan were in her room. Sarah decided she wanted some company this evening. Mother and son were on the little bed watching the late night news. All day, Sarah was frustrated with Nick and this whole ordeal. Yes, she wanted him but in her rational mind she knew it would never work out.
"Mommy can I wask you someting,"
"Sure honey,"
"Why doesn't dwaddy wive wit us?" he asked curiously.
Sarah was shocked by him asking that question. "Well, it's hard to explain."
"I wish dwaddy was here, he's fun!" Ethan exclaimed.
Just hearing Ethan say those words made Sarah cringe inside. He surely needed a father but his father happens to be very busy Backstreet Boy.
"It's getting late... I think we should sleep okay?"
"Okay, I can't wait to see dwaddy tomorrow hehe," he giggled then lying down. Sarah kissed him goodnight then fell asleep.
