Takes Two To Tango

Chapter 7

As months flew by, Nick tried his best at every opportunity to visit Ethan and Sarah. Nick was patient knowing Sarah wouldn't take him back in a snap. She had to see he was capable of being a good father to their son. That he was capable of loving her again and being with her.

Sarah finally graduated and was one of the top ten students in her class. Now she had time to finally rest a few. While this was all happening, Sarah had no clue what so ever on the plans Nick had for her twenty-first birthday.

Everyone was intent on helping Nick to plan this and make it perfect. They knew Nick and her deserved to be together.

The day had come and it took a lot to keep it a secret from Sarah. Valarie convinced Sarah to wear a formal dress and drive over to the Embassy Suites hotel. Sarah drove to the hotel anticipating what was to come and wondered why the formal dress. Walking into the designated room she opened the doors and a loud *SURPRISE* was yelled from everyone.

"Oh my gosh," Sarah said as she walked in and saw everybody. From family to very close friends.

"Valarie did you do this?" Sarah asked her.

"Nope," she simply answered.

"Then who?"

"That young handsome man standing over there," Valarie said pointing her head in Nick's direction.

Nick was standing off to the side dressed to the nines in his black tuxedo. His arms crossed across his chest and he was staring at her with a smirk. Sarah has never seen him look so handsome until then. Valarie left Sarah's side, leaving the two young ones.

Sarah was snapped out of her daze when she felt Ethan tugging on her dress. She smiled as her son too was dressed in a black tuxedo like his father.

"Hi Ethan,"

"Hi, mommy, happy bwirthdway," he told her.

"Awwww thank you honey, come on, lets go over to daddy," she said taking his tiny hand and walking over to Nick.

"Happy Birthday Sarah," he said giving her a smile.

"Thank you Nick for all of this, you really didn't have to,"

"But I did, you're twenty-one, you gotta have fun," Nick said.

"Really you didn't-,"

"Excuse me Ethan, I need to borrow mommy for a second," Nick said gently pushing Sarah towards the dancefloor against her will.

"Sarah, you need to learn how to just kick back and have fun just once,"

Sarah just played along and danced innocently with Nick so she wouldn't have to deal with his complaining. For most of the evening they danced to fast pace songs until the DJ said he'd like to take it slow and played a slow song. Nick grabbed her before she could run off. Sarah sighed and Nick smirked.

Pulling her into his arms, Sarah rested her head onto his shoulder as the moved in a little mini-circle. Slowly moving to the rhthym of the song. The song was over much too soon for them. Taking her head off of his shoulder, Sarah looked into Nick's beautiful eyes. Surely they possessed a look of love in them.

"Happy Birthday Sarah," he whispered.

"Thank you... I better find Ethan no telling where he is now," she said forcing a laugh and exiting the dancefloor to find Ethan.

She finally found him sleeping soundly at one of the tables. Checking her watch it was already past eleven o'clock in the evening. Sarah was surprised at the amount of time that has passed. Pulling him into her arms she was about to tell everyone that she was leaving until someone stopped her.

"Just where do you think you're going?" Valarie asked.

"To take my son home,"

"No no no you stay here with lover boy, i'll take care of Ethan,"

"Valarie-,"

"Don't give me that 'I don't need him' speech,"

Sarah sighed, "Even if you know... i'd like to, it would never, just think about it, he's hardly home, he's always on the road,"

"That's your mistake Sarah, all you do is think, think, think. Have you ever stopped and just felt, felt what was right in your heart. Yes Nick is busy but he's been working his butt off for this, for you, he loves you can't you see that. He wants you,"

Sarah sighed, her best-friend was making sense.

"Oh and here I forgot to give you this, it's the key to the most luxurious room in this hotel. Just go there instead of home tonight and i'll take care of Ethan don't worry," Valarie said handing her a key.

Yawning, Sarah noticed the party was starting to wind down and slowly the crowd started to get thinner. Looking down at the key, she wanted desperately to lay down. Exiting the premisis, she went into the elevator and pressed the needed buttons. Apparently she got the room at the very top.

The elevator dinged and she walked down the corridor and found her room. Pushing the key into the door she entered. Flipping on the lights, she flopped down onto the large mattress. Closing her eyes, she relished the feeling of the comfortable room. It was just right and she had a great view of the city lights.

Her eyes flew open the moment she felt a soft rose caressing her cheek. Looking up she saw Nick smiling down at her.
