Takes Two To Tango
Chapter 5
Nick forgot how complicated L.A. freeways were. People cutting him off, the confusing names of parkways, he thought it was hopeless to find the office until he finally spotted the name of the street and exited. Then he thanked the Lord above when he spotted the sign that said *Real Estate Inc. Offices* and made his way to the parking lot.
Pulling the key out of the ignition, he was about to get out of the car when he catched a familar glimpse of rich dark brown hair. There was Sarah dressed up in a business suit. With a blazer that clung nicely to her body and a knee length black skirt hugging her perfect hips.
Sarah walked briskly past his car not noticing him at all. It was like she was in a big hurry to get home. He spotted her car, a black Lexus just parked a few cars down for his car. Nick let a few minutes pass till he started his car and followed her.
Nick wondered why she would be affilated with Real Estate Inc. Did she work for them? Did she buy a house from them? Nick knew Sarah was intelliegent and she had to be going to college. She couldn't possibly juggle a job from them. He wondering the possibilities until he noticed her park into the driveway of a beautiful looking home. Typical normal house with two stories and pretty flowers in the yard.
Parking his car from a distance he watched as she got out of her car and grab her portfolio. Clearly her face showed exhaustion. Nick gave it a few minutes till he'd go inside. He was so nervous, his palms were sweating, and butterflies were fluttering in his stomach.
Getting out of his car, he jogged across the street and was standing in front of the door. Nick was about to knock when he heard her voice and another unknown voice speaking. Peaking through the window, he saw Sarah and her best friend Valarie in the kitchen talking. Sitting next to Sarah was a little boy eating some cereal.
Surely, maybe it was some kid Valarie was babysitting or something he thought. Sighing he felt stupid eavesdropping and kept telling himself to not be a wimp and get it over with. His hand went up and knocked on the door. He heard Sarah say she'd get it.
The door slowly opened and there stood Sarah with her eyes open wide. Closing the door behind her she said whispered, "What the hell are you doing here Nick?"
"I came here to see you," he said quietly looking down at his shoes.
"Well you saw me, you can go now," she said.
"But I need to talk to you,"
"But you're already talking to me,"
"Sarah stop it,"
"Stop what?"
"Sarah,"
"Nick,"
"Hey Sarah who's at the door...," Valarie's voice faded as she opened the stood as she saw Nick and Sarah standing across each other. Ethan was beside her.
"Hi Valarie," Nick said.
"Hey Nick...,"
"Mommy who's dat?" Ethan asked.
"Just somebody," Sarah muttered.
"Hi somebwody," Ethan said.
Nick laughed. Walking past Sarah he kneeled down before the little boy, "What's your name kiddo?"
"Ethwan," he said.
"Hi Ethan, my name is Nick. Nice to meet you," he said shaking Ethan's tiny hand.
"Who is this boy? Babysitting cousin or something?" Nick asked.
"No..,"
"Valarie's brother or something? Or your folks have another kid? Little brother perhaps?" Nick questioned.
"No..,"
"Then who is he,"
"Nick... he's your son,"
