Takes Two To Tango

Chapter 3

It was another sunny day in California. He liked it over here, it surely had a different feel over here than Florida. Sitting by the pool, he relaxed and enjoyed the sun shining down on him. Lena had arrived yesterday and it was nice to have her there. He was snapped out of his daze when he realized someone was covering his sun.

"Nick this is for you, it's from Mr. Bradford, the man whom you bought this house from," his mom said.

"Okay," Nick sat up and opened the envelop.

"Well, what does it say?" Lena asked.

"It's an invitation to a banquet being held Saturday evening celebrating the anniversary of the company. He's was inviting everyone who had bought a house from their company. The whole family is invited,"

"Oh that's nice of him but I think it's best if you and Lena just go," his mom suggested.

"That's very nice of you Mrs. Carter but i'm sure everyone would love to go as well," Lena said.

"It's okay, you two kids have your fun at the banquet,"

"Wow guest of honor, you," Valarie said after Sarah told her everything.

"Yeah, it'll be nice I guess,"

"You guess? You really need to go to this banquet, get out, have a time where you don't need to work and just relax, kick back and eat some free food,"

"But I don't have anything to wear, plus I hardly know anyone there,"

"It'll be okay! You'll find some hot handsome dude to get your groove on with there, some rich guy straight out from Harvard to sweep you away, i'm sure they'll be one of those at the banquets!" Valarie said.

Sarah couldn't help but smile. Meeting a guy really wasn't her priority. Every since Nick and her broke up she hadn't dated or anything and devoted her life to three things: school, work, and Ethan.

"I don't need a guy, no guy out there these days wants to date a gal with a three year old son,"

"Geez Sarah, must you always put yourself down?! Gosh... look at you, you're smart, beautiful and hardworking can't you realize that,"

"Noooo I am not smart, I sure as hell am not beautiful but I am hardworking...,"

"Fine think what you wanna think but we need to rumage through your closet...," Valarie said.

Valarie moved from her spot and looked into Sarah's closet filled with business suits and casual clothing. After scanning she found the perfect dress at the end of the closet. Taking it out she flashed it at Sarah.

It was a long black dress with a slit on one side. Definetly a one of a kind made out of expensive velvet and was embrodried with flowers on the side. Though it was simple it was sophisticated and sexy.

"Oh no I can't wear that," Sarah said.

"Oh come on it's not bad it's really nice,"

"That's the dress I wore when I turned eighteen, geez does it even still fit?"

"Yes it does now try it on damn it," Valarie said throwing the dress at Sarah.

Sarah sighed and made her way to the bathroom to change. As she changed she got flashbacks of Nick, her, and the dress. She could still feel his fingertips on her. Snapping out of her daze she was surprised the dress still fit her. Making her way out of the bathroom her friend gave her a look of approval.

"You look sizzling, Sarah," Valarie commented.

Sarah weak smiled, she couldn't believe she was doing this but something inside of her drove her to wear this dress.
